MWC 2013-Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 8.0

When the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 was declared in Barcelona, it did not come as a shock. We had already known the tablet, though it is 100 per cent official now.

The latest entrant to Samsung Note lineup fetches with it an 8inch TFT LCD with a 1280 x 800 pixels screen. It is power driven by an Exynos 4 Quad central processing unit clocking at 1.6GHz supported by 2GB of RAM. The great news is this tablet comes with Android v4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, although with the TouchWiz / Nature user interface on top.

Obviously, a Note gadget arrives with the S Pen & the typical set of pen optimised applications. Samsung has upgraded the stylus to work on the capacitive keys sitting alongside the physical home key; users do not need to make a transition from pen to finger while utilizing the thingy.

The body is a usual Samsung piece of designing made from plastic & offers a glossy coat & round corners similar to majority of Samsung recent smart phones.

On the rear of this tablet is a 5 MP auto focus snapper, which is capable of shooting videos in 1080p HD. The front flaunts a 1.3 MP snapper, which must be enough for voice calls.

Samsung has joined hands with Peel to fetch a Smart Remote application to the Note 8.0. This is the manufacturers endeavor to get a piece of the home entertainment marketplace. It comes with an infrared blaster on the right corner & the Asian manufacturer has included a visual programming guide with remote control functionalities on the tab.

Detailing on pricing & launch dates are still to be declared. Keep an eye on this space for more information.

Apple production price would increase by 30 percent for a Retina display edition of the iPad mini

A report released states that if the Cupertino based manufacturer is going to increase the resolution on the display of the next gen Apple iPad mini, the added price would transform into more than $12 for every unit. That would fetch the price of parts required to manufacture the tablet to more than $200 per unit based on previous works from iSuppli. A retina display will need higher dots per inch (DPI) & the brightness of the back light modules needs to be high. More LEDs will be required & all of these enhancements would result in a 30 percent increase in the production price to make a Retina display edition of the Apple iPad mini. The low resolution on the current version has been the slate biggest weakness. The resolution on the tablet is 1024 x 768 pixels which results in a somewhat weak pixel density of 162 pixels per inches.

Apple share of the tablet marketplace had decreased sharply to 44 percent by Q4 2012 from 70 per cent at the start of the year. Low priced Android slates have been flooding the marketplace, like the $199 16 GB Google Nexus 7. It offers a 7 inch screen with a 216 ppi pixel density though there are rumors that an FHD display will be incorporated to the slate with no modification in price.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is also set to arrive in the market. It will come with an S pen & could offer several attributes present on the Galaxy Note 2. It includes multi windows and Smart Stay.
